Next Up Are 3 Books Scheduled To Be Released July 7, 2009

The Long Awaited Debut Novel Eyes Like Stars: All Her World's A Stage by Lisa Mantchev

Eyes Like Stars

Seventeen-year-old Beatrice (Bertie) Shakespeare Smith has spent her whole life within the walls of the Theatre Illuminata, a majestic and magical playhouse with thousands of players at the ready. Bertie was a foundling, discovered at the theater door, but management has now wearied of harboring the irreverent, unrestrained, occasionally downright destructive young woman she has become. She must prove-in four days-that she can make an invaluable contribution to the theater or be forever banished. Mantchev seamlessly blends the richly wrought, claustrophobic world of the tradition-bound theater and its age-old dramatic productions with a decidedly modern sensibility. The result is electric. The delicious descriptions of the theater's strange powers are fascinating, the characters vivid, the dialogue smart and sassy and Bertie's fiercely loyal fairy cohorts from A Midsummer Night's Dream bawdy and hilarious. Clever mini-scripts, usually flashbacks, materialize throughout the novel like songs in a musical. The palpable sense of urgency is also fueled by some well-staged romance, as well as by Bertie's quest to discover who she is and what she's made of. Brava! Encore!

Invisible Touch by Kelly Parra

Kara Martinez has been trying to be "normal" ever since the accident that took her father's life when she was eleven years old. She's buried the caliente side of her Mexican heritage with her father and tried to be the girl her rigid mother wants her to be — compliant and dressed in pink, and certainly not acting out like her older brother Jason. Not even Danielle, her best friend at Valdez High, has seen the real Kara; only those who read her anonymous blog know the deepest secrets of the Sign Seer.

Because Kara has a gift — one that often feels like a curse. She sees signs, visions that are clues to a person's fate, if she can put together the pieces of the puzzle in time. So far, she's been able to solve the clues and avert disaster for those she's been warned about — until she sees the flash of a gun on a fellow classmate, and the stakes are raised higher than ever before. Kara does her best to follow the signs, but it's her heart that wanders into new territory when she falls for a mysterious guy from the wrong side of town, taking her closer to answers she may not be able to handle. Will her forbidden romance help her solve the deadly puzzle before it's too late...or lead her even further into danger?

You Are So Undead To Me by Stacey Jay

I Decided To Read This Book Because It's On Penguin's Darken Your Summer Days List...

Fifteen-year-old Megan Berry is a Zombie Settler by birth, which means she's part-time shrink to a bunch of dead people with a whole lot of issues.

All Megan wants is to be normal—and go to homecoming, of course. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult when your dates keep getting interrupted by a bunch of slobbering Undead.

Things are about to get even more complicated for Megan. Someone in school is using black magic to turn average, angsty Undead into flesh-eating Zombies, and it's looking like homecoming will turn out to be a very different kind of party—the bloody kind.

Megan must stop the Zombie apocalypse descending on Carol, Arkansas. Her life—and more importantly, homecoming—depends on it.

RagDollVampGirl's Review

Stacey Jay Has Created A Very Original Piece Of Work With This Book...I Was Shocked At the Idea Of Settlers And Having To Put The Undead To Rest. It Was Something I've Never Heard Of. And I Immediately Loved The Idea. Megan Is Very Likable From The First Page.. Although, The Prologue Of This Book Scared The Crap Out Of Me And Then The First Chapter Confused Me.. Megan Experienced A Terrible Attack At The Age Of 10 Which Caused Her To Forget Most Of The Settler World.. Kind Of Like A Form Of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder... I Found It To Be A Little Strange How She Couldn't Remember Her Best Friend But Realizing He Was A Big Part In Her Settler World Made It Clear Why.. But Once Megan's Memory Began Unraveling So Did The Book... In A Good Way... This Book Is Witty, Funny, Cute And Has Enough Zombies To Keep You Hooked.. This Book Quickly Grows And Opens In Ways You Wouldn't Expect... It's Not A Predictable Book, Which I Love.. Because I Hate Guessing The Ending And Finding Out I Was Right... I Especially Love The Title And The Cover... I Remember Waiting In Line To Buy It And Thinking I'd Love To Wear A Pair Of Shorts Like That... Yea, Right?? LOL!!

Three Upcoming New Releases

The Following Three Books Are All Scheduled To Be Released On June 23, 2009...

First Up Is "Fairytale by Cyn Balog"

Fairy Tale

A captivating and witty dark fantasy that will have girls lusting after it.

Morgan Sparks has always known that she and her boyfriend, Cam, are made for each other. But when Cam’s cousin Pip comes to stay with the family, Cam seems depressed. Finally Cam confesses to Morgan what’s going on: Cam is a fairy. The night he was born, fairies came down and switched him with a healthy human boy. Nobody expected Cam to live, and nobody expected his biological brother, heir to the fairy throne, to die. But both things happened, and now the fairies want Cam back to take his rightful place as Fairy King.

Even as Cam physically changes, becoming more miserable each day, he and Morgan pledge to fool the fairies and stay together forever. But by the time Cam has to decide once and for all what to do, Morgan’s no longer sure what’s best for everyone, or whether her and Cam’s love can weather an uncertain future.

I Really Want To Read This One.. But I Do Have To Say I Absolutely Hate The Cover...

The Next Book Is "Nothing But Ghosts by Beth Kephart"

Ever since her mother passed away, Katie's been alone in her too-big house with her genius dad, who restores old paintings for a living. Katie takes a summer job at a garden estate, where, with the help of two brothers and a glamorous librarian, she soon becomes embroiled in decoding a mystery. There are secrets and shadows at the heart of Nothing but Ghosts: symbols hidden in a time-darkened painting, and surprises behind a locked bedroom door. But most of all, this is a love story—the story of a girl who learns about love while also learning to live with her own ghosts.

This One Seems Really Good... Beth Is An Amazing Author... The Cover Is Not So Bad Either...

If You'd Like To Order This Book You Can Do So By Visiting Barnes & Noble Here

The Last Book Up Is "Alyzon Whitestarr by Isobelle Carmody"

Alyzon Whitestarr

Are Alyzon’s new abilities a blessing . . . or a curse?

Alyzon Whitestarr doesn't take after her musically talented father or her nocturnal, artistic mother. In fact, she’s the most normal member of a very eccentric family . . . until the day that an accident leaves her more unique than she ever could have dreamed.

Suddenly colors are more vibrant to Alyzon; her memory is flawless; but strangest of all is Alyzon’s sense of smell. Her best friend smells of a comforting sea breeze. She registers her father’s contentment as the sweet scent of caramelized sugar. But why does the cutest guy in school smell so rancid?

With Alyzon’s extrasensory perception comes intrigue and danger, as she becomes aware of the dark secrets and hidden ambitions that threaten her family. In the end, being different might be less of a blessing than a curse. . . .

I'm Very Excited About This One... Love, Love, Love The Cover...

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters

Review Of Generation Dead

Gen Dead

Phoebe is just your typical goth girl with a crush. He's strong and silent.and dead.

All over the country, a strange phenomenon is happening. Some teenagers who die aren't staying dead. They are coming back to life, but they are no longer the same-they stutter, and their reactions to everything are slower. Termed "living impaired" or "differently biotic," they are doing their best to fit into a society that doesn't want them.

Fitting in is hard enough when you don't have the look or attitude, but when almost everyone else is alive and you're not, it's close to impossible. The kids at Oakvale High don't want to take classes or eat in the cafeteria next to someone who isn't breathing. And there are no laws that exist to protect the differently biotic from the people who want them to disappear-for good.

With her pale skin and Goth wardrobe, Phoebe has never run with the popular crowd. But no one can believe it when she falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids. Not her best friend, Margi, whose fear of the differently biotic is deeply rooted in guilt over the past. And especially not her neighbor, Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has just realized his feelings for Phoebe run much deeper than just friendship. He would do anything for her, but what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy?

RagDollVampGirl's Review
When I First Picked Up This Book I Was A Little Perplexed. Zombies Living Among Us?? Trying To Fit Into Society?? Once I Began Reading This Book I Was Astounded And Very Amazed At The Brilliance That Is Daniel Water's Wonderful Creativity. These Zombies Seemed So Much Real Than The Ones In Those Gory Flicks. You Know The Ones That Eat Your Brains. I Never Understood How It Was So Hard For Them To Walk But They Could Easily Attack And Kill You!! Daniel Water's Version Is Much More Realistic In The Sense That He Makes It More Believable. Each Chapter Of This Facinating Book Brings More About More Intrigue. I Could Not Stop Reading This Book. I Was Dying To Know What Was Going To Happen Next. I Love That He Wrote The Book From Different Point Of Views Rather Than Just From One Person's View. I Fell Absolutely Head Over Heels For Tommy. Does That Make Me A Necro?? LOL!! I Actually Cried More Than Once In This Book!! It's Happy And Sad And A Very Good Read. I've Never Been One To Like Zombies But This Book Changed My Mind. So Long As They're Daniel's Version!! I Also Must Add That I Am Waiting For The Sequel To Come In The Mail. Could Zombies Be My New Obsession??

Flashback Friday (2)

So Here It Is!!! The Book That Started My Vampire Obsession!! (Besides Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Of Course!!!)

"In The Forests Of The Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes"

I was born to the name of Rachel Weatere in the year 1684, more than three hundred years ago.

The one who changed me named me Risika, and Risika I became, though I never asked what it meant. I continue to call myself Risika, even though I was transformed into what I am against my will.

By day, Risika sleeps in a shaded room in Concord, Massachusettts. By night, she hunts the streets of New York City. She is used to being alone.

But now someone is following Risika. Someone has left her a black rose, the same sort of rose that sealed her fate three hundred years ago.

Three hundred years ago Risika had a family — a brother and a sister who loved her. Three hundred years ago she was human.

Now she is a vampire, a powerful one. And her past has come back to torment her.

I Read this Book When I Was 11. This Book Changed Everything For Me... I Always Thought Of Vampires As Crazy Bloodthirsty Fiends. Such As, The One's On Buffy. But After Reading This Book I Wanted To Become A Vampire!!! The Best Part To Me Was When I Found Out Amelia Was Only 14 When She Wrote This Book!!! AMAZING!! Read, Read, Read This Book!!

In 2009, The Cover-Reprint Version Was Released. I Personally Like The Old Version...

Forest 2

It Does Appear To Be The Same Model Though I Could Be Wrong!!

Wishlist Wednesday (2)

This Week's Book On My Wishlist Is "Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick"

Falling in love was never so easy . . .

or so deadly.

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

I Know!!! You're Drooling Over The Cover Right!!! LOL!!! I Can't Wait To Read This One!!!

Evernight by Claudia Gray

Bianca wants to escape.

She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.

Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.

"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."

But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

RagDollVampGirl's Review
I Am Absolutely In Shock Over Claudia Gray's Debut Novel. Evernight Is The First Book In A Four Part Series. And I Am Dying To Read Stargazer Already. I Love That The Book Starts With Bianca Trying To Run Away. I Found It Funny When Lucas Chased Her Down "Trying To Save Her" As The Book Begins, You Suddenly Realize That Evernight Academy Holds Lots Of Secrets. These Secrets Just May End Up Tearinf Lucas And Bianca Apart. Once The Secrets Begin To Slip Out, The Book Picks Up Massive Speed, And Before You Know It, You're At The Conclusion. Although I Found The Book To Be A Major Cliff-Hanger, It Still Has A Lot Of Originality To It. I Thought This Book Would Be Like Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy. But It's Not. Claudia Has Created An Amazing Academy That Will Leave You Floored. I Definitely Recommend this Book To Anyone In Love With Vamps.

Rating 5/5

Flashback Friday

On Fridays I'm Going To Be Posting Books That I've Read In The Past. These Will Be Books I Enjoyed And Highly Recommend!!

My First Flashback Book Is America by E.R. Frank.

You try not to think. You try not to imagine, but then those cracks pop up, and these flashes squeeze right through. At first, some of it's not too bad, and you get stupid, maybe even wanting a little more, but then you pull yourself together, knowing what all is likely going to ooze out if you're not careful....

Fifteen-year-old America has been nowhere, has been nobody. Separated from his foster mother. A runaway. A patient. Without love. Without hope. And, eventually, without the will to live.

Until Dr. B. steps in. To listen. To explore. And to find within America both the story and the boy who are lost.

This Book Blew Me Away. I Was Only 13 When I Read This Book. It Shows The Endurance Of A Young Boy Growing Up. This Book Deals With Child Abuse, Disturbing Behavior, And America's Journey From Being Lost In This World And Lost In Himself. If You've Read Cut by Patricia McCormick Then This Is A Book You've Got To Read...

On February 28, 2009, A Film Adaptation Of America Was Given On Lifetime. The Film Is A Little Different From The Book, But They Always Change Things When Making A Film. Nonetheless, I Guarantee Before The Credits Roll You'll Have Shed A Tear Or Two...

I Hope You Enjoy My Flashback Friday. I Can't Wait To Share More With You...

Vampire Kisses: The Beginning

Vampire Kiss

A new guy in town.
Rumors of vampires.
Dangerous first love.
This is where it all begins. . . .

The mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years. But one day it seems to be occupied, and its mysterious, handsome inhabitant Alexander Sterling becomes the source of much talk around town. Raven, a vampire-obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in "Dullsville," is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander. As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies, Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations. Can Alexander make her lifelong dream come true? But love always has its complications—especially when it can only be awakened at nightfall.

The first three books in Ellen Schreiber's bestselling Vampire Kisses series capture the thrill of a most unusual romance.

RagDollVampGirl's Review
I First Started Reading The Vampire Kisses Series After I Read The Vampire Diaries Series. I Was Craving More Vampires And I Had Heard About These Books. So I Purchased The Vampire Kisses: The Beginning Box Set. I've Said It Before I Love Vampire Books. These Are More Light, Cute And Funny Compared To Other Vamp Series. I Actually Loved Raven Madison. Although, I Am Not Goth I Absolutely Love Her To Death. In Vampire Kisses, Raven Is Almost Immature In Her Desire To Become A Vampire. But Instead Of Her Being Cheesy, She's Very Eccentric. By The Vampireville Book, She Shows A Lot Of Maturity. I Also Love Alexander Sterling. Who Doesn't? I Love That He Seems Wise And Very Protective Of This Awkward But Brave Girl. If You Love The Chronicles Of Vladimir Tod You'll Love The Vampire Kisses Series.

Every Wednesday I Will Be Posting A Book That I am DYING To Read. First Up Is "Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margararet Stohl" Because This Is One Of The Top Three I'm Want To Sink My Teeth Into So Bad.

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

I Can't Wait For This One!!
Beautiful Creatures Is Scheduled To Be Released In 2010.

The Chronicles Of Vladimir Tod: Eigth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer

Today I Am Reviewing A Book by An Author Who Definately Made An Impression On Me!! Heather Brewer's "Eigth Grade Bites"

Vlad Tod

Junior high really sucks for thirteen-year-old Vladimir Tod. Bullies harass him, the principal is dogging him, and the girl he likes prefers his best friend. Oh, and Vlad has a secret: his mother was human, but his father was a vampire. With no idea of the extent of his powers, Vlad struggles daily with his blood cravings and his enlarged fangs. When a substitute teacher begins to question him a little too closely, Vlad worries that his cover is about to be blown. But then he faces a much bigger problem: he’s being hunted by a vampire killer.

RagDollVampGirl's Review:

When I First Decided To Read "Eigth Grade Bites" I Was A Little Unsure About How I Felt About It. A Thirteen Year Old Half Vampire!! But, I Did Manage To Give It A Shot, And I Instantly Got Swept Up Into The World Of Bathory By The First Chapter. Heather Makes It So Easy And Light That You Forget Vampires Are Supposedly Demonic Creatures. I Love How She Manages To Make A Scene Change Without Ever Confusing You. The Character "Vladimir Tod" Definately Caught My Attention And Held It Throughout The Entire Book... I Definately Recommend Reading The Chronicles Of Vladimir Tod For A Great Time And A Good Laugh..

Rating - 4/5

I Will Begin "Ninth Grade Slays" by Heather Brewer by The End Of Today!! So I Will Have A Review For You ASAP!!
