Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

My Review

What an amazing whirl wind! This book is an absolute amazing rollercoaster ride that will yank you into the town of Gatlin by the back of your neck, and won't let go. The haunting story line and characters keep you curious, as you turn page after page. This is a spellbinding story that seeps into your soul. As I came closer to the end I found myself dreading the leave from Gatlin, but desperately wanting to know what would happen next. Stohl and Garcia have officially joined the ranks of all the rest YA Dark Romance authors. I highly recommend this book. If I could rate this higher than five I would. This book easily became the best book I've read in the year 2009.

Rating 5/5

I'm so envious of anyone who's been able to read this! Although I'm a little afraid all the awesome reviews will raise my expectations too high.

I agree with you Ragdollyvampgirl, this is a good read. But I only gave it a 3.5 out of 5 because of it's cliffhanger ending. But, all in all, it is a good read. My review is here:

I've also put a link back to your review in my MrLinky for Beautiful Creatures.
